This is not what we thought school was going to look like....

 Hey Everyone!

I thought I would pop on and surprise you all with a little mid week update.

Kaleb's treatments have been going well and he has been staying mostly positive.  Being tired has been the theme of this week.  I don't think I have ever known Kaleb to nap as much as he has this past week!!  He always was my kiddo that refused to sleep day or night!  Taste buds again are changing and what food worked last cycle is no longer working this cycle.  He is eating far less than before and that has me worried.  We will see the dietician later this week.

School this week has been a bit of a challenge, it's not the way we ever pictured him learning but he has made the best of it.  Mental fatigue and concentration are symptoms that Kaleb has to deal with due to the chemo and meds he has to take.  He has been able to work a little bit at a time and is getting closer to completing an assignment in his one course.  (He is still playing catch up from other days that he missed during his first cycle)

Today Kaleb had an opportunity to play some music while getting chemo.  He was able to work on an iPad and start making tracks in garage band.  Ollie (the resident clown) is also a musician and brought Kaleb his personal Theremin to borrow for the morning.  For those of you who have no clue what a Theremin is... it's an instrument that you play without even touching it!  It became very popular in science fiction movies.  Kaleb had lots of the nurses pop their heads into the curtained room trying to figure out what was making the "weird" sounds!  Kaleb had fun making siren sounds, sounds that made people wonder if he was trying to make contact with aliens, and figuring out how to play the theme song for the Shire from the movie "the Hobbit". Distractions while receiving chemo treatment is ever so important.  Life is no longer normal and making noise is good, laughing and smiling is awesome!  On Tuesday Ollie brought Kaleb some ice cream to try and eat ... with a fork and knife!
