Start of a new cycle
We made the trip to London yesterday afternoon so that we would have a chance to settle in and get our bearings. ChildCan really came through for us and we were able to get into the Lamplighter. It seems like everywhere has really cracked down on their policies regarding being double vaccinated. Being so close to the hospital really helps calm nerves as we know if something were to go wrong we are only 2 mins down the road from the hospital.
A goodnight's sleep was a blessing as we woke up refreshed and somewhat ready to tackle the day. As we were on our way to the hospital I received a call from the "border crossing agency" telling me that a parcel I had apparently ordered had illegal items in it. So my supposed parcel had been seized and I am now a wanted person with the FBI. LOL 😂 thank you scammers for the giggles this morning!!
When we arrived at the hospital there was a line up out the door and down the sidewalk area. It was a good thing we arrived early for his appointment as it took almost 10mins just to get past screening at the front doors!
We checked into the PMDU and waited for Kaleb's nurse to come find us. Kaleb lost weight again (just under 3 lbs), and his chicken pox test came back negative so we were moved into the treatment area. He was given an IV drip to make sure he was hydrated. We met with his specialist where she went over how things went this past cycle and to go over anything that may have popped up symptoms/ questions wise. His bloodwork came back good so the start of cycle 2 was approved.
We talked to the dietician about Kaleb's weight loss and she was not overly concerned. She said there are many factors that can change his weight like when he ate, what he was wearing, how much fluids he had before stepping on a scale... the list goes on. What we
are looking for is a gradual climb on the weeks where his cycle is not in the 5 day chemo stretch.
Today Kaleb's chemo treatments (he had the 3 different chemo drugs) made him very tired. Its very busy in the PMDU and there are only curtains separating each bed, so he napped when he could.
We were finally released for the day around 4 today and headed back to the hotel to rest. I am writing this while Matt is rubbing Kaleb's back trying to help him sleep off his headache. Dinner is making its way to us at the hotel thanks to Aunt Amy, Mr. Christopher and Elliott.
May God bless you.
